Charlotte's Outerbelt

Interstate 485, Charlotte's Outerbelt, comes closer to completion every day. By the end of 2008, over three quarters of I-485 will have been completed. After the highway is opened to NC 115 near Huntersville in 2008, construction on the Outerbelt will sit dormant for a number of years. Funding issues and other project delays have put off the construction and eventual completion of the highway from NC 115 to I-85 at Exit 31 until at least 2013. It will be at least another two years after that for the entire outerbelt to be completed.
