West Virginia State Route 68 currently exists in along the Ohio River from Ravenswood to Parkersburg.  However, WV 68 was signed on a road much further south in Mingo County.  WV 68 until sometime after 1965, Editors note: the oldest map I have of the area is from 1965 then jumping to 1996, was signed along the highway from WV 49 in Matewan to KY 1056.  The roadway includes a crossing over the Tug Fork River.  The former Route 68 is now known as Mingo County Route 49/10.  The current WV 68 was signed sometime after 1971.
