The National Road: Pennsylvania
Uniontown to Brownsville
Leaving Uniontown and heading west, travelers will encounter another toll house, the Searights Toll House.  The toll house was one of six used in Pennsylvania for the frontier highway.  The tollhouse was erected in 1835, and tolls were collected continuously until 1905.  Searight's and the Addison Toll House are the only tollhouses still standing today.  Searight's Toll House, named for the nearby village of Searight, was registered as a National Historic Landmark in 1964.
