1967 Pennsylvania Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
Some examples from the 1967 Pennsylvania Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).  All scans made and submitted by John Krakoff.
  • Page 21 - Welcome to Pennsylvania Interstate Highway guide sign.  This sign would be found only on Interstate Highway's at the state line.  They were first placed in the early 1960s and would last until sometime in the 1970s.
  • Page 220 - One or two digit US Highway marker.  This edition officially eliminated the use of a cutout US shield in Pennsylvania.
  • Page 221 - Three digit US Highway marker.  Ironically, US 230, the route used in the example, would be decommissioned that same year.
  • Page 222 - One or two digit Pennsylvania Route marker.
  • Page 223 - Three digit Pennsylvania Route marker
  • Page 349 - Regulatory - This list of regulatory signs show a few items no longer seen in PA unless they are long forgotten leftovers.  Yellow yield, trucks reduce gear warning, older Welcome to Pennsylvania, and Minimum Speed (now only seen on the PA Turnpike) sigs are a few of the no longer used examples.
  • Page 362 - Markers - A list of Interstate, US, and PA Route shields along with 'JCT' and 'END' plates and directional arrows.
  • Page 364 - Information - Many of these signs are no longer used, although relics can still be found statewide.  They include, Legislative Route markers, measured mile signs, and municipality signs.

    1970 Amendments
In 1970, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation published an amendment to the 1967 MUTCD.  This scan includes the cover sheet, a new low clearance sign, and a camping sign.
