Where: I-85 Rest Area - Davidson County

Accessibility : Easy

Stokes County Bridge No. 197:
A rest area off of a busy six lane Interstate 85 may be the most unlikely spot for a Pratt Pony Truss that is over a century old, but it is.  The former Stokes County Bridge 197 has called the rural Davidson County Rest Area home for nearly 20 years.  The bridge, which was built by the Roanoke (Virginia) Bridge Company in 1906, originally crossed over Seven Island Creek near the town of Danbury.  To help tell the story of Bridge 197 and similiar bridges, there are historical descriptions of the bridge and how it was moved to the site in both the Northbound and Southbound Rest Areas.

North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Memorial:
The North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Memorial is dedicated to the 1,607 North Carolinians that were killed or are missing as a result of the Vietnam Conflict.  The Memorial was dedicated on Memorial Day - May 27, 1991.  Today, a group of concerned citizens are hoping to renovate the Memorial.
