3-lane US 1 with 'suicide' center passing lane; Dinwiddle County.  From the NC State Line to Petersburg, a good portion of US 1 is three lanes.  Most of the three lane segments consist of an alternating passing lane for North and South traffic.  However, there are some cases, as shown in the photo, where the center lane is a passing lane for both directions.
