PA 962

Former Pennsylvania State Route 962 ran along the eastern section of the Pocono Mountains in Pike County.  Route 962 began at the town line in the borough of Silver Spring.  The route headed northeastward along what is now Raymondskill Road (SR 2009) up to the intersection with Milford Road (SR 2001).  Route 962 then followed Milford Road North into the village, terminating at U.S. Route 6 (Harford Road) in downtown Milford.  Route 962 was decommissioned in 1946, along with a mass amount around the state.  As a result, the former state highway became two secondary routes. Strangely, A 1951 New York Times article mentioned Route 962 in an article about the nearby Woodland Falls. (1) The PA 962 designation has not been used since.  PA DOH - 1941 (Jeff Kitsko)
