The Blue Ridge Parkway
Mile 235.0 - Mahogany Rock Overlook

Throughout the Parkway's journey in North Carolina, there are unique features or occurrences that make some overlooks extremely popular.  One of which is the Mahogany Rock Overlook at mile 235.  The reason: "hawk-spotting".  From late August and peaking in mid-September, numerous bird enthusiasts and Parkway motorists gather to this overlook to spot and enjoy the thousands of raptors that cross the Parkway on their migration south.
