The Blue Ridge Parkway
Mile 305.25 - Beacon Heights

At the point where the Blue Ridge Parkway meets US 221 just north of Linville is the Beacon Heights Overlook.  This pullover features outstanding views of the Grandfather Mountain Range and a 1.1 out-and-back hiking trail.  At over 4200 feet, low clouds, fog, mist, and great sunshine can come into play for very interesting photo opportunities.
Color Photos taken by Steven Duckworth; Black & White by Adam Prince.  All photos taken May 2003.
Low clouds hang around mountain ranges of over 6000 feet. Lush green scenery is abound. Great vistas surround the overlook.
Clouds add drama to the rocky cliffs of the mountains. The Grandfather Mountain Range sits mightily in the background.
