Saint Louis Roads As Seen From The Gateway Arch
It is not often when one can get a bird's eye view of a city's highway system.  When you are viewing the road from the ground, there are a lot of things you don't see.  One is how massive highway interchanges look like a maze or a complex piece of functional art.  On a September 2005 trip to Saint Louis, Billy Riddle got a bird's eye view of Saint Louis' highways from the famous Gateway Arch, and his photos are below.

A view of the massive downtown I-64/US 40, I-55, and I-70 Interchange from the Arch.  I-55 South continues on the elevated highway from the interchange at the top of the picture.

A closer view of the massive interchange.

A view of the six lane elevated Interstate 70 near the Edwards Jones Dome.  The signs are for I-70 West and Exit 249B.

A bird's eye view of signs on I-70 Eastbound as I-70 exits towards Illinois and I-55 South (Exit 251A) continues straight towards I-44 West.
