The State of New York is in the northeast third of this map, Pennsylvania the northwest third, and New Jersey is along the bottom.
The I-84 Delaware River Bridge is an interesting feature in that it comes very close to entering the state of New Jersey, but just misses by about 100 meters. There was a good amount of discussion in the Usenet newsgroup "Misc.Transport.Road" in recent months about just how close this route comes to entering New Jersey. The I-84 interchange with NJ 23 is also entirely in New York. After clearing the NJ 23 interchange, I-84 immediately climbs about 350 m going eastward out of the Delaware River Valley. Also note the slight ridge that the highway cuts through at the west edge of this interchange.
